COLUMBIA, Ky. – Two weeks after opening the 2025 season at home, the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team is back in action this weekend in "The Longhorn State." The Blue Raiders will make two stops as part of the Texas Two Step Tournament, opening in Waxahachie on Friday, August 29 to challenge 11
th-ranked McPherson (Kan.) and Louisiana Christian, before traveling northwest to Fort Worth on Saturday, August 30 for a doubleheader against Rochester Christian (Mich.) and (RV) Texas Wesleyan.
Lindsey Wilson last competed on August 15-16 in the Roar and Raid Invitational and posted a perfect 4-0 record.
Petra Fernandez Garcia garnered Mid-South Conference Attacker of the Week status after leading the Blue Raider offense with 52 kills and a 0.314 hitting percentage. Teammate
Luiza Gonçalves earned Setter of the Week honors as she dished out 144 assists to go with six service aces, 20 kills, and 35 digs.
McPherson and Lindsey Wilson will meet for the third consecutive season on Friday morning. The Bulldogs won the previous two matches and are 4-1 to start the new year. As a team, McPherson boasts the nation's 22
nd-best attack percentage at 0.241.
Louisiana Christian is opening its 2025 campaign in Texas after going 15-18 in 2024. The Wildcats set 10 different program records last season, including total wins, team kills, service aces, and total blocks.
Rochester Christian, which started the season 3-0 before falling to Spring Arbor (Mich.), is led by senior middle blocker Chante Hudgins and her team-best 36 kills and 16 blocks.
Texas Wesleyan suffered back-to-back losses before defeating Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) two weeks ago. The Rams actively rank 10
th in the NAIA with 17 solo blocks. Senior Victoria Smith stands atop the lineup with eight of those solo efforts.
The Blue Raiders are 2-1 all-time versus Texas Wesleyan but have never gone head-to-head with Louisiana Christian or Rochester Christian.
Friday's first match is set for 11 a.m. CT. Live coverage of the weekend's tournament will be provided by Nelson University (Texas) on Friday, then Texas Wesleyan on Saturday.
