GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The No. 17-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's wrestling team defeated (RV) Georgetown (Ky.) 23-16 in a Mid-South Conference dual Friday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 3-0 in conference duals. Lindsey Wilson came away with five victories in the dual, recording three tech falls and two major decisions.
Georgetown jumped out to a 6-0 lead with back-to-back SV-1 victories at 125 and 133 pounds.
Adrian Ayala (No. 4 at 141) cut the Georgetown lead to 6-4 with a 10-1 major decision over Cofy Walls at 141 pounds. The Tigers increased their lead to 9-4 with a 9-2 decision at 149 pounds.
Emmanuel Celestine (No. 23 at 157) started a run of four straight Lindsey Wilson wins. Celestine tied the dual 9-9 with a 19-1 tech fall over Jeremy Mills.
Jaiden Moore gave the Blue Raiders a 14-9 lead with a 21-5 tech fall over Sam Daniels at 165 pounds.
Kriecg Roe pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 18-9 with a 13-0 major decision over Matthew Cael Green at 174 pounds.
Cory Cannan (No. 12 at 184) clinched the victory for Lindsey Wilson with a 20-5 tech fall over Navarro Nanpua in the 184-pound bout. Georgetown recorded a major decision at 197 and a decision at 285 pounds as the Blue Raiders came away with the 23-16 victory.
The Blue Raiders are next in action on Tuesday when they travel to Lebanon, Tennessee, to take on No. 10 Cumberland (Tenn.) at 7 p.m. CT.
