COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's track and field teams head back to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships on Tuesday, February 17, at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
The Blue Raider men enter the conference meet following a strong performance at the Eastern Indoors, where they posted multiple NAIA standards and event wins.
Cambell Rawlings led the sprints with a pair of victories, winning the 60 meters in 6.73 seconds to meet the NAIA "A" standard and taking first in the 200 meters with a "B" mark of 21.55.
Daniel Otibo continued his standout indoor season, setting a new school record in the 400 meters with an "A" standard time of 47.56, while
Royce Mentor IV placed second in 48.99.
In the field events,
Jayden Wentz and
Lorenzo Luces went one-two in the triple jump, while
Janer Caicedo Campaz cleared 2.00 meters in the high jump. The Blue Raiders also showed depth in the relays, with multiple top finishes in the 4x400-meter event.
On the women's side, the Blue Raiders recorded several NAIA standards and a new school record at the Eastern Indoors.
Rosemond Owusu broke her own school record in the high jump, clearing 1.69 meters to hit the NAIA "A" standard and place first.
Hannah Reid added "B" standards in both the 60 meters and 200 meters, finishing third and second, respectively.
Chenessa Davis and
Isabel Urrutia Lemus each reached the 60-meter hurdles final, placing third and fourth.
In the field,
Charm Rone led the long jump crew with a third-place finish at 5.46 meters, followed closely by
Elaina Holliday,
Jada McIntyre, Owusu, and Davis.
Reagan Cheatham also placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.92 meters.
Competition at the Mid-South Conference Championships begins Tuesday morning in
