COLUMBIA, Ky. - Lindsey Wilson men's basketball junior
Kenyata Carbon was voted Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the sixth time this season, league officials announced Monday.
The Owensboro native earns his ninth career weekly award from the conference, the most by a single player in their career in program history.
Through three games last week, Carbon averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks as the Blue Raiders went 2-1.
On Monday, he scored 17 points, pulled down six boards, and passed out five assists in Lindsey Wilson's narrow loss at No. 18 Georgetown (Ky.).
Three days later, Carbon racked up 29 second-half points, shooting 9-for-10 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free throw line, to lead the Blue Raider past No. 6 Cumberlands (Ky.). He finished the game with 33 points, which matches his career-best, plus nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
In Lindsey Wilson's last game of the week against Carolina (N.C.) on Saturday, Carbon notched 13 of his team-high 16 points in the second half as the Blue Raiders pulled away from the Bruins 82-77. He ended up with an additional seven assists, three steals, three rebounds, and a block.
For the week, Carbon shot 67.6 percent on field goals, 80 percent from the foul line, and hit four 3-pointers.
He actively ranks first in the Mid-South in total steals and assists, second in points per game, third in field goal percentage, and 10th in defensive rebounds.
Kenyata and his Blue Raider teammates travel to Tennessee this weekend for a series of conference games with Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and Bethel (Tenn.).
