COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a four-game series with Mid-South Conference foe Cumberland (Ky.) College over the weekend at Joe Johnson Little League Complex.
Cumberland (14-9, 10-3 in the MSC) scored three first inning runs en route to a 7-2 win in game one on Saturday.
Lindsey Wilson (11-19, 5-11) scored a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings to split on the day with a 5-3 win. Senior catcher Amy Rice was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate, including a pair of doubles in the win. Junior outfielder Whitney Frasier contributed a pair of hits and three runs batted in to the Lindsey Wilson win.
In game three of the weekend series, Cumberland scored seven runs in the final two innings to rout the Blue Raiders 9-1. Lindsey Wilson managed just four hits in the game and committed three errors which led to four unearned Cumberland runs.
In Sunday's second game, Lindsey Wilson freshmen Ashlee Oliver and Leigh Ann Moore combined for a two-hit shutout to lift the Blue Raiders to a 4-0 win. Rice, Lindsey Wilson junior third baseman Bonnie Rooney and senior shortstop Whitney Reynolds combined for eight hits, four runs and three RBIs.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 14, as they host Kentucky Wesleyan College at Joe Johnson Little League Complex.
