PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team advanced to their second consecutive Mid-South Conference championship game by winning three games in the loser's bracket on Sunday.
The Blue Raiders (19-25) will play Lambuth (Tenn.) University in the finals in Jackson, Tennessee. The date of the finals will be determined by the two coaches, but should be sometime this week.
Lindsey Wilson beat host Pikeville (Ky.) College 2-1 in Sunday's first game.
Freshman Leigh Ann Moore pitched a complete game for Lindsey Wilson, surrendering only one run on six hits. Moore struck out six Bears batters.
Junior third baseman Bonnie Rooney was one for two at the plate and picked up both runs batted in for the Blue Raiders.
The Blue Raiders avenged their only tournament loss by beating Georgetown (Ky.) College by the same 2-1 score.
Rooney once again picked up the Blue Raider offense by knocking in both Blue Raider runs.
Lindsey Wilson scored both runs in the first inning as sophomore Kasey LaDuke (9-12) and Moore combined to hold the Tiger offense to one run.
LaDuke earned her ninth win of the season and Moore picked up her first career save.
The Blue Raiders earned the berth into the finals with a 3-2 win over top-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
Senior Leigh Ann Collins pitched the Blue Raiders to the victory. Collins allowed three hits and two runs, although both runs were unearned due to two Lindsey Wilson errors.
The Blue Raiders only garnered two hits in the game, but used three Campbellsville errors to score three unearned runs in the third inning.
The finals appearance marks the second consecutive season the Blue Raiders have played for the MSC Tournament title. Lindsey Wilson defeated Campbellsville last season to win the program's first MSC Tournament.
