JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team advanced in the NAIA Region XI tournament today with a 3-1 victory over Freed-Hardeman University(Tenn.).
Senior Leigh Ann Collins pitched four hit ball over six innings for the complete game. Collins allowed one run --unearned-- and struck out two.
Fourth-seeded Freed-Hardeman University (23-17) struck first with one run in the second inning. No. 6 seed Lindsey Wilson (23-26) countered with three runs in the third inning, which turned out to be the final score, 3-1.
Seniors Amy Rice, Whitney Reynolds, and Mandy Hurst led the Blue Raider offense with each collecting a run batted in during the three run third inning.
Lindsey Wilson advances in the losers bracket and will play either No. 3 Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) or No. 1 Martin Methodist College (Tenn.) at 6 p.m. CT later tonight at Fesmire Field in Jackson, Tennessee.
