JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team's season ended on Thursday in the NAIA Region XI Softball Tournament with a 10-1 loss to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College at Fesmire Field.
The Blue Raiders end the season with a 23-27 record.
Martin Methodist, the top seed in the Region XI Tournament, advances to play No. 5 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) University at 1 p.m. CT on Friday. No. 2 seed and host Union (Tenn.) University await the winner of that game for the regional championship.
Martin Methodist (45-12) scored eight runs in the first three innings en route to the 10-1 win. The RedHawks pounded out 13 hits in the game led by senior outfielder Rachel Phillips' three hits and four runs batted in.
Lindsey Wilson's lone run came in the fourth inning as senior second baseman Mandy Hurst's RBI single scored junior outfielder Leigh Oakley. Hurst ends her career going one for two from the plate with a RBI.
Senior Whitney Reynolds led Lindsey Wilson, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, with two of the team's four hits.
Senior starting pitcher LeighAnn Collins (6-5) suffered the loss allowing five runs on five Martin Methodist hits in one and two-thirds innings of work. Sophomore reliever Kasey LaDuke finished the game allowing five runs on eight hits in three and a third innings.
Martin Methodist sophomore pitcher Dara May (18-7) picked up the complete game win, allowing one run on four hits. She struck out one Lindsey Wilson batter.
