Softball Drops Series at Campbellsville

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville (Ky.) University defeated Lindsey Wilson College in three out of four games in Mid-South Conference softball action this past week in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

The Tigers won the series opener on Tuesday by a 2-1 margin. Campbellsville scored single runs in the first and sixth inning before a late Lindsey Wilson rally in the seventh inning came up just short.
Blue Raider senior Leigh Oakley was 1-for-3 with the lone RBI in the loss. Junior Danielle Clark picked up the loss allowing two runs on four hits in six innings of work.

Campbellsville won the nightcap 4-3. An early 2-0 Tigers lead after one inning was erased by the Blue Raiders two-run second inning. Campbellsville retook the lead shortly after in the bottom of the second 3-2. Again, Lindsey Wilson tied the game with a run in the fifth inning to knot the score at 3-3. Campbellsville once again answered quickly with the eventual winning-run in the bottom of the fifth.

Lindsey Wilson was led by sophomore Lauren Miller who finished the game 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Sophomore Leigh Ann Moore was the losing pitcher. Moore gave up four runs -- two earned -- on six hits in six innings pitched.

Wednesday's first game saw Lindsey Wilson tie the score in each the third and fourth innings before dropping the game with a 5-3 defeat. The Tigers outhit the Blue Raiders 9-6.

Oakley was 2-for-2 for Lindsey Wilson with one RBI and one run scored. Oakley was credited with the loss as she allowed two runs on four hits in two innings of relief.

Lindsey Wilson held on to an early 3-0 lead to win the series finale 4-2. The Blue Raiders led 3-0 after four innings before the Tigers finally tallied a run in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 3-1. Lindsey Wilson added an insurance run in the seventh, before Campbellsville scored once more to cut the eventual final score to 4-2. Lindsey Wilson outhit Campbellsville 9-4

Blue Raider junior Sheryl Kruse led the Blue Raider offense with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with a double and a run scored. Oakley was 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Moore collected the victory by pitching a four-hit complete game.

Lindsey Wilson falls to 19-16 overall and 7-8 in the Mid-South Conference. Campbellsville is now 28-10 on the season and sits atop the MSC at12-4.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the diamond at 5:30 p.m. CT as the Blue Raiders host Spalding (Ky.) University on Wednesday, April 12, at Joe Johnson Complex.
