Softball Falls in MSC Finals

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball lost 1-0 to Campbellsville (Ky.) University in the Mid-South Conference finals today and now must wait to see if they will receive one of the at-large bids into the NAIA Region XI Tournament.

After dropping their first game in the MSC Tournament, the Blue Raiders fought their way into the championship game before falling to Campbellsville.

The Blue Raiders (32-18) opened Saturday with a 7-3 win over the tournament's host Georgetown (Ky.) College.

The win ended the MSC regular season champions' hopes for the conference regular season and tournament sweep.

Lindsey Wilson scored six runs in the top of the sixth to overcome a 3-1 deficit and reach the tournament's finals.

Junior Whitney Mink led the Blue Raider offense with a pair of hits and three RBIs.

In the championship game, Campbellsville scored a first inning run and Tiger pitcher Cassidy Kroeker shut the Lindsey Wilson offense down en route to the 1-0 win.

Mink and senior Shayla Cain each contributed two hits in the loss.

The Blue Raiders -- one of the hottest teams in the region, winners of 15 of their last 19 -- must now await the TranSouth Tournament results and a possible at-large bid.
