Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a double header against Pikeville (Ky.) College today at Joe Johnson Field.
In game one, Pikeville (9-11, 2-4 in the Mid-South Conference) scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for the victory 4-3.
Lindsey Wilson (12-10, 5-5) took the lead in the sixth when senior Brittany Dorsey reached on an error scoring freshman Emily Woolum from third base, then Pikeville rallied late.
Pitcher Olivia Holland (3-6) was the tough luck loser going the distance allowing only two earned runs.
In game two, junior Haley Cheuvront hit a walk-off homer in extra frames giving the Blue Raiders a 6-5 win. It was Cheuvront's second homerun of the season.
Freshman Emily Poynter (3-2) picked up the win in relief throwing 2 1-3 innings of shutout softball.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 11:45 a.m. CT against Martin Methodist College and at 2 p.m. CT versus Robert Morris College tomorrow as the Blue Raiders host the Lindsey Wilson College/Campbellsville Classic at Joe Johnson Field.
