COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team swept a doubleheader on the road today against the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).

In game one, Lindsey Wilson (16-11) received a dominating performance from sophomore pitcher Olivia Holland to defeat Cumberlands 3-0.

Holland (6-7) threw a complete game shutout and scattered three hits. Holland faced 23 batters and allowed only five balls to leave the infield.

Sophomores Jamie Williams and Kelly McCarty each collected two hits and freshman Lindsey Bridges drove in one of the three Blue Raider runs.

In game two, the Blue Raiders held on to a 7-6 victory despite a furious Cumberlands (11-15) comeback. The Patriots scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh and fell just one run short of tying the game.

Sophomore Emillee Bush (5-2) recorded the victory throwing five innings and allowing only one run while striking out two. Freshman Emily Poynter (5-2) relieved Bush and allowed five runs over the final two innings.

Seniors Whitney Mink and Brittney Dorsey both had two hits and one run batted in. Freshman Caren Alexander recorded two hits and drove in two runs to help lead the Blue Raiders to the sweep.
