Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team swept the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in its season finale today at Joe Johnson Field.
In game one, Lindsey Wilson (24-17, 14-10 in the Mid-South Conference) scored three runs in the first three innings en route to a 4-2 victory.
Sophomore pitcher Olivia Holland (10-11) threw a complete game allowing only two runs while striking out five. Sophomore shortstop Jamie Williams and junior left fielder Haley Cheuvront each collected two hits and drove in a run.
In game two, the Blue Raiders jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first four innings and cruised to a 9-5 victory.
Sophomore pitcher Emillee Bush (9-4) picked up the win throwing six innings allowing five runs, four earned. Freshman Emily Poynter pitched the seventh.
Seniors Brittany Dorsey and Whitney Mink each collected two hits in their final regular season game -- Dorsey drove in two runs. Freshman designated player Lindsey Bridges hit her fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the third inning.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Monday, April 20, as the Blue Raiders host West Virginia University Institute of Technology in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament at Joe Johnson Field.
*In between games Lindsey Wilson honored its three graduating seniors for their hard work and dedication to the softball program. Outfielder Deanndrea Moore joined Dorsey and Mink.
