Box Score 2 ST. CATHARINE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a doubleheader against St. Catharine (Ky.) College on Thursday.
In game one, St. Catharine (20-14, 6-4 in the Mid-South Conference) scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk-off with a 6-5 win.
Sophomore pitcher Olivia Holland (6-8) received the loss giving up six earned runs over 6-2/3 innings. The Blue Raiders offense was led by sophomore shortstop Jamie Williams and senior catcher Whitney Mink. Williams collected two hits, including a two run homerun and Mink recorded three hits and stole a base in the losing effort.
In game two, Lindsey Wilson (18-13, 9-7) survived a late rally by the Patriots and held on for a 9-8 victory. St. Catharine scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, falling one run short.
Sophomore pitcher Emillee Bush (6-2) picked up the win throwing five innings while giving up five runs -- four earned -- and striking out two. Holland pitched the final two innings to preserve the victory.
Williams and Mink continued their hot hitting. Williams had three singles and scored three runs while Mink had four hits, including a homerun. She drove in three runs and scored two.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action for a doubleheader at 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 7, against Campbellsville (Ky.) University at Joe Johnson Field.
