Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a doubleheader against St. Catharine (Ky.) College on Thursday.
In game one, Lindsey Wilson (19-16, 10-10 in the Mid-South Conference) jumped out early scoring six runs in the first three innings en route to an 8-4 victory.
Sophomore pitcher Olivia Holland (7-10) picked up the win scattering four runs -- two earned -- over seven innings. Holland struck out three.
The Blue Raiders connected on three homeruns. In the first inning catcher Whitney Mink connected on a three-run homerun to left center. Designated player Lindsey Bridges and left fielder Haley Cheuvront hit the other two. Second baseman Brittany Dorsey had three hits and scored a run.
In game two, St. Catharine (21-20, 7-7) rallied in extra innings to defeat Lindsey Wilson 3-1 in nine innings.
Sophomore pitcher Emillee Bush (7-4) received the tough loss throwing all nine innings and only allowing three earned runs.
Third baseman Caren Alexander and first baseman Kelly McCarty each collected two hits for the Blue Raiders in the loss.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action for a doubleheader at Noon p.m. CT on Saturday, April 11, against Pikeville (Ky.) College in Pikeville, Ky.
