Box Score 2 WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- After outscoring the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) 11-2 in a sweep of the Patriots on Tuesday, the Lindsey Wilson College softball team extends it winning streak to 11 games. The Blue Raiders topped Cumberlands 8-1 in the opener and closed out the doubleheader with a 3-1 win.
Megan Huckaby led Lindsey Wilson (25-8) in game one with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with two RBI, a double and a run scored. Center fielder Emily Carnes finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs, while left fielder Alexis Rodgers went 1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs as well.
Game two's offensive leader was designated player Lindsey Bridges who went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Pitcher Morgan Paschall finished 2-for-2 with a run, while Anyibell Ramirez reach based safely in 3-of-4 attempts at the plate.
Paschall - who started game two in the circle - and Ramirez both earned wins with complete-game performances. Ramirez struck out 11 batters, while allowing just three hits and one run. Paschall struck out 12, while scattering six hits and allowing just one earned run.
Game one remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Lindsey Wilson struck for two go-ahead runs. The Patriots clawed back in the bottom half of the inning with a run of their own, but their comeback bid fell short as Lindsey Wilson closed out any hope of a win with six more runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Cumberlands (12-8) tallied just three hits in the loss, but also committed three errors to help the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson went ahead 1-0 in the top of the second inning of game two and added two insurance runs in the fourth without Cumberlands on the board. The Patriots brought a run home in the bottom of the sixth, but it would be as close as they would get to the Lindsey Wilson lead.
The Blue Raiders return to the diamond at 2 p.m. CT on April 2 at the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) for the first of four games to be played over the weekend.
