Box Score 2 MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a pair of games today against ranked opponents in the University of Mobile (Ala.) Softball Classic.
The Blue Raiders lost to host Mobile 1-0 in eighth innings in their first game of the classic and won 2-1 over Notre Dame College to close out the day.
In the first game, Lindsey Wilson junior Anyibell Ramirez (2-1) suffered the hard-luck loss after allowing just one run on five hits to the No.18-ranked Rams. Ramirez struck out 13 Mobile batters.
Mobile pitcher Leslie Pickette matched Ramirez hurling a one-hit eight-inning shutout. Pickette finished with eight strike outs.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Alexis Rodgers led off the game with a single up the middle. The Rodgers hit proved to be the lone Blue Raider hit of the day.
Mobile's Erica Bracey provided the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth after the Rams loaded the bases.
In the Blue Raiders' second game, junior Morgan Paschall (3-0) allowed one run on four hits to beat No. 19-ranked Notre Dame 2-1.
Lindsey Wilson grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning. Rodgers once again led off the game with a single and later scored on junior Ally Goniea's RBI single.
Notre Dame tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth with an RBI single from Charisse Colston.
But the Blue Raiders answered with a run in bottom of the fifth to take the 2-1 lead.
Paschall and Ramirez -- who earned the save with the final two outs -- finished off the Lindsey Wilson win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday with three games. The Blue Raiders play Dillard (La.) University, No. 8-ranked Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College and No. 6-ranked William Carey (Miss.) University.
