Box Score 3 MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team dropped a pair of one-run decisions to two top-10 opponents and beat Dillard (La.) University 12-0 on Saturday at the University of Mobile (Ala.) Classic. The Blue Raiders lost to eighth ranked Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College 1-0 and sixth ranked William Carey (Miss.) University 2-1.
Pitcher Anyibell Ramirez was impressive against Martin Methodist, but couldn't get enough offensive support from her teammates to secure a win. Ramirez pitched 6.0 innings, allowing just four hits and one run, while striking out 12 batters. Ramirez was the leader at the plate as well, finishing 2-for-4.
While Martin Methodist and Lindsey Wilson tied with four hits each, first basman Amanda Queen's home run in the fourth inning was all the scoring needed to take the win.
The Blue Raiders and William Carey also posted four hits each in the game and were tied 1-1 heading into the sixth inning. Then right fielder Casey Alexander reached first on a bunt to lead off the inning and eventually scored the winning run off a single to center field by third baseman Judy Barber.
Morgan Paschall took the loss for Lindsey Wilson, despite striking out a game-high 15 batters and giving up zero walks.
The Blue Raiders picked up the win against Dillard in the opening game of the day. Lindsey Wilson improved to 6-3 on the season with the win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Sunday for the final day of the Mobile Classic. The Blue Raiders face Reinhardt (Ga.) College at 9 a.m. CT, followed by their final game of the classic at 11 a.m. against Spring Hill (Ala.) College.
