Box Score 2 MIDWAY, Ky. -- Ally Goniea went a combined 5-for-6 at the plate with a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored to lead the Lindsey Wilson College softball team to a sweep of Midway (Ky.) College on Thursday.
The Blue Raiders sneaked past the Lady Eagles in the opener 2-0 with Anyibell Ramirez cooling the Midway bats from the circle with a one-hitter in 7.0 innings with 14 strikeouts.
Lindsey Wilson scored the winning run in the top of the first inning, and then added another run in the fourth inning to put the game away with Ramirez controlling the game with her pitching.
Right fielder Megan Huckaby produced one of the runs after going 2-for-4 with an RBI as well. Morgan Paschall -- who played first base in game one -- went 2-for-3, scoring the other Lindsey Wilson run.
The Blue Raiders made quick work of Midway in game two, producing a mercy-rule ending in the fifth inning with as 13-0 lead. Lindsey Wilson outhit the Lady Eagles 13-3 and scored five runs in the fourth to double a 5-0 lead to 10-0 in just one inning.
Goniea scored all four of her runs in game two, while shortstop Jamie Williams crossed the plate for three runs after going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a double. Center fielder Emily Carnes had one of the best offensive games of her career, finishing 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
Paschall pitched all five innings of game two, scattering just three hits while striking out five batters.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday, April 17 at Pikeville (Ky.) College.
