Box Score 2 RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team escaped with a 1-0 win in game one at the University of Rio Grande (Ohio), then exploded in game two for an 11-0 shutout on Friday, extending its winning streak to 13 games.
Anyibell Ramirez earned the win in game one, throwing 7.0 innings while allowing just two hits and striking out 11 batters. Morgan Paschall took the win in game two, pitching 6.0 innings with four strikeouts while giving up just three hits. Emily Poynter closed out the game in the seventh inning with a strikeout.
Catcher Allie Goniea and second baseman Jamie Williams were the only Blue Raiders to register a hit in the opener, while Goniea and Paschall put together a pair of 3-for-4 performances at the plate in game two.
Paschall registered three RBI, a run scored and a double, while Goniea scored two runs to go along with a pair of RBI.
Lindsey Wilson (27-8, 13-3 MSC) led just 3-0 after four innings in game two, but caught a hot streak in the fifth and seventh innings, adding four runs in each. Blue Raider first baseman Kelly McCarty scored the winning run in game one in the top of the second inning as both teams came up empty the rest of the game.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, April 3 with another doubleheader at Rio Grande (15-13, 7-7 MSC).
