Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. -- Ally Goniea and Jordan Gilland made sure the Lindsey Wilson College softball team stayed undefeated in Mid-South Conference Tournament play.
Goniea collected three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored, while Gilland finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Blue Raiders to an 11-3 win in five innings against Campbellsville (Ky.) University at Millennium Park.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson advances to the championship game where they will have to be defeated twice to be eliminated. Its first game on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT at Millenium Park, although there is a threat of severe storms in the Danville area that could push the game back to a later date.
Against the Tigers, Anyibell Ramirez picked up the complete-game win throwing 5.0 innings with six strikeouts while scattering five hits and walking four batters.
Campbellsville's Cassidy Kroeker picked up the loss, throwing no strikeouts while scattering 13 hits for nine earned runs.
Lindsey Wilson opened the game with three straight hits after leadoff batter Alexis Rodgers grounded out. Second baseman Jordan Gilland and shortstop Jamie Williams scored on the hits to give the Blue Raiders an early 2-0 advantage.
Campbellsville wasted little time responding with two runs of its own in the top of the second inning, however, Lindsey Wilson jumped on Kroeker again in the bottom half of the inning for two more scores to take a 4-2 lead.
The Tigers scored again to close within 4-3 in the next inning but would not score again as Lindsey Wilson added seven runs over the next three innings to record the mercy-rule win.
St. Catharine (Ky.) College plays Georgetown (Ky.) College at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday in an elimination game, followed by the winner taking on Campbellsville at 10 a.m. for the right to take on the Blue Raiders for the MSC Tournament Championship.
