Box Score 2 PULASKI, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team won a pair of games for the second straight day on Sunday at the Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College Meltdown.
After beating Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University 9-2 and Reinhardt (Ga.) University 1-0 on Saturday, the Blue Raiders (4-0) beat McKendree (Ill.) University 8-0 and host Martin Methodist 2-0 today in the final day of the six-team, three-day round robin event.
The Blue Raiders improve to 4-0 with the two-day sweep of three teams receiving votes in the NAIA Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll and another unranked team.
In today's first game, Lindsey Wilson pounded out 12 hits en route to an 8-0 win over McKendree.
Lindsey Wilson junior Mikaila Etheredge recorded three hits and senior Ally Goniea, junior Emily Priar and sophomore Alexis Rodgers each added two hits in the win. Junior Jamie Williams finished the game 1-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.
Senior Morgan Paschall picked up her first win of the season allowing three hits while striking out five McKendree batters
In the final game of the day, Lindsey Wilson senior Anyibell Ramirez shut down the host RedHawks in the 2-0 win.
Ramirez allowed three hits while striking out seven Martin Methodist hitters over six scoreless innings of work. After picking up her first win of the season in today's first game, Paschall earned her first save of the season in the nightcap with a scoreless seventh inning.
Williams provided the key hit of the game in the seventh inning with her third home run of the season. Etheredge provided a RBI later in the inning to give Lindsey Wilson an insurance run on its way to the 2-0 win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 25, as the Blue Raiders face Milligan (Tenn.) College at the Shorter (Ga.) University Classic in Rome, Ga.
