Box Score ROME, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team suffered its first loss of the season today falling 2-0 to No. 18-ranked Brenau (Ga.) University on the final day of the Shorter (Ga.) University Invitational.
The Blue Raiders fall to 6-1 on the season with the loss while Brenau improves to 7-0 on the season.
The Golden Tigers scored in the third inning to grab a 1-0 lead off Lindsey Wilson senior starter Anyibell Ramirez. The run is the first of the season off Ramirez in 28 innings of work.
Brenau added an insurance run in the fifth inning to hand Lindsey Wilson the 2-0 loss.
Ramirez allowed one run on two hits while striking out nine Brenau hitters in her four innings of work. Senior Morgan Paschall allowed a run on two hits with six strikeouts in the final three innings of the game.
The Blue Raiders offense was held scoreless for the first time this season and provided just five hits in the game.
Ramirez and junior Emily Priar each recorded two hits while junior Amy Harner added the final hit for the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 27, as the Blue Raiders host Notre Dame (Ohio) College at Lindsey Wilson Sports Park in their 2011 home opener.
