Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth inning, the Lindsey Wilson College softball team allowed Notre Dame (Ohio) College to take the lead with three runs, but luckily answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to win 5-3 on Sunday in game two of a doubleheader at Blue Raider Stadium.
The Blue Raiders made quick work of the Falcons in the opener, winning by run rule in just five innings 11-0.
Senior Morgan Paschall earned wins in the circle in both games, pitching a complete-game no hitter in the opener and pitching 1 and 2/3 innings of relief in game two. Paschall finished with a combined nine strikeouts while allowing no earned runs.
Christina Hutchison took the loss for Notre Dame in game one after a disastrous six-earned runs in the first inning and Christine Camp was given the loss in the nightcap after throwing all six innings with four strikeouts and three earned runs.
Sophomore pitcher and outfielder Lauren Seibert was the leader at the plate, belting two home runs while going 3-for-4 in both games combined with four RBIs. Seibert also pitched two and 2/3 innings in game two, giving up three hits and two earned runs.
In the 11-0 win, Seibert, junior shortstop Jamie Williams and junior first baseman Amy Buwalda all hit home runs to help put the Falcons away.
After seemingly being on their way to another shutout win in game two, the Blue Raiders quickly found themselves playing from behind in the fifth inning.
Notre Dame's Hutchison singled to lead off the inning, then right fielder Charrise Colston drilled a two-out, two-run homer to tie the game. The next batter, Candace Shofar hit a routine grounder to third base, but a wild throw by senior Kelly McCarty allowed her to reach first safely.
With Paschall now in to pitch, Shofar was advanced to second after first baseman Mallory Harder was walked. Left fielder Michelle Dykes' single to left center scored Shofar and the Falcons went into the bottom half of the inning with a 3-2 lead.
Junior second baseman Emily Priar delivered just what the Blue Raiders needed as the lead-off batter in the fifth with a triple down the right-field line. Williams hit a sacrifice fly to center field in the next at bat to score Priar and tie the game once again. Seibert was there to break up the tie with her second home run of the day with two outs.
Freshman Wendy Vincent helped by adding an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth pinch running for McCarty's double to lead off the inning. Paschall moved Vincent to third on a sacrifice bunt, before sophomore left fielder Alexis Rodgers singled down the third-base line to score Vincent.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Tuesday, March 1 against Midway (Ky.) College at Blue Raider Stadium.
