Box Score 2 GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team won a pair of games today at the Gulf Coast Invitational hosted by University of Mobile (Ala.).
The Blue Raiders (14-1) opened the day with a five-inning 8-0 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) University and closed with a 3-1 win over Central Methodist University.
Against Cumberland, the Lindsey Wilson offense pounded out 12 hits while the pitching duo of Anyibell Ramirez and Morgan Paschall limited the Bulldogs to just two hits in the 8-0 win.
Lindsey Wilson's one through four hitters went eight for 12 at the plate with six runs and four RBIs in the win. Senior Ally Goniea led the way going 3-for-3 with three RBIs while junior Jamie Williams and sophomore Alexis Rodgers provided two hits each.
In the second inning with bases loaded, sophomore Lauren Seibert provided a bases clearing double in her only official at-bat of the day. Seibert's hit gave the Blue Raiders a 7-0 lead en route to the win.
Ramirez picked up her team-best eighth win of the season allowing just two hits in her three innings of work while striking out six batters. Paschall did not allow a hit in her two innings of relief work.
In the nightcap, the Blue Raiders scored twice in the first inning and added an insurance run in the sixth inning to propel Lindsey Wilson to the 3-1 win over Central Baptist. The win runs the Lindsey Wilson winning streak to eight straight.
Eighth different Blue Raiders provided one hit each as Goniea and sophomore Jordan Gilland added RBIs in the win.
Ramirez picked up her second win of the day and ninth in 10 decisions this season. She allowed one run on one hit -- a home run from Jordan Tolliver -- while striking out 10 hitters in five innings of work. Paschall earned her second save of the season hurling two shutout innings while facing the minimum amount of batters -- including four strikeouts.
Lindsey Wilson continues its play in the Gulf Shores Invitational on Saturday as the Blue Raiders play No. 25-ranked and host Mobile at 11 a.m. CT and Oklahoma Baptist University at 3 p.m. CT.
