Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team completed its southern swing today with a 6-0 win over host Spring Hill (Ala.) College.
The Blue Raiders finished its Spring Break trip to southern Alabama with a 7-1 road trip, including a runner-up finish in the Gulf Shores Invitational.
Today, Lindsey Wilson senior Ally Goniea went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Blue Raiders (19-2) to the win. Six other Blue Raiders recorded a hit in the game as Lindsey Wilson out-hit the host 9-4 for the game.
Lindsey Wilson senior Morgan Paschall and sophomore Lauren Seibert combined for the four-hit shutout.
Paschall (7-0) picked up the win allowing just one hit while striking out five Spring Hill (5-16) batters over four innings. Seibert picked up her first career save allowing three hits while striking out four in her three innings of work.
Goniea gave the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead with a two RBI single in the third inning. Senior Kelly McCarty drove in the third Blue Raider run of the inning four batters later to give Lindsey Wilson the 3-0 lead after 2-1/2 innings.
One inning later, junior Jamie Williams walked and moved into scoring position with her team-best fifth stolen base of the season. Goniea's single up the middle plated Williams to give Lindsey Wilson the 4-0 lead.
Goniea provided the final scoring with a two-run blast over the left field fence to give the Blue Raiders the 6-0 lead and eventual win. The home run is Goniea's second homer of the season.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 10:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 19, as the Blue Raiders host Davenport (Mich.) University at the Lindsey Wilson Sports Park. At 2:30 p.m. CT the Blue Raiders host Union (Ky.) College.
