Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College and Campbellsville (Ky.) University split lopsided wins on the softball field on Tuesday, with the Tigers winning game one 12-4 in six innings and the Blue Raiders returning the run-rule favor with a 9-1 win also in six innings.
Senior Anyibell Ramirez took the loss in game one but returned to record a win in game two, pitching six innings with just four hits and one earned run allowed with five strikeouts.
Courtney Turpin tallied the win from the circle in game one, while Martina Riney took the loss in game two.
The balls were flying out of the Park on Tuesday with the teams combining for 10 home runs.
Lindsey Wilson (37-6, 18-2 MSC) junior shortstop Jamie Williams led the way with three homers, hitting two in game two. Seniors Ally Goniea and Kelly McCarty and junior third baseman Emily Priar also added home runs in the win for the Blue Raiders.
Campbellsville (29-22, 19-7) did most of the damage with balls leaving the park in the opener as shortstop Brooke Boils, third baseman Bailey Dillender, left fiedler Alex Jane Clemmons and catcher Morgan Bullock all hit home runs.
Sophomore second baseman Jordan Gilland was hot at the plate for Lindsey Wilson, finishing 5-for-7 on the day with a run scored and sophomore right fielder Lauren Seibert had a strong showing in the opener, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple.
Williams had a monster stat line in game two, connecting on two hits for home runs to tally four RBIs and junior center fielder Amy Harner backed her up with a pair of hits for a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Dillender paced Campbellsville in game one, going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored and Clemmons was the leader in game two with a pair of hits, run scored and a walk.
While the Blue Raiders held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning in the opener, the Tigers finally locked into Ramirez and pelted out 12 hits on their way to 11 runs over the final three innings.
Lindsey Wilson added a pair of runs in the fifth inning to draw back within one at 5-4, but a grand slam by Bullock in the bottom half of the inning took all the momentum out of the comeback effort.
After two scoreless innings in game two for both teams it was the Blue Raiders that erupted, scoring six runs in the third inning with McCarty and Goniea both hitting home runs.
The Tigers didn't get on the board until the fifth inning, but failed to score again as Lindsey Wilson put together an eight-run lead with two runs in the sixth inning to bring the game to a close.
