Softball Sweeps Pikeville to Improve to 10-0 in the MSC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team remained perfect in Mid-South Conference play with a doubleheader sweep today at Pikeville (Ky.) College.

The No. 19-ranked Blue Raiders (29-4, 10-0 in the MSC) scored all four of their runs in game one in the seventh and final inning in a 4-0 win. Lindsey Wilson pounded out 13 hits to complete the sweep in a 7-2 win in the nightcap.

In the opener, senior pitcher Anyibell Ramirez (17-3) recorded 17 strikeouts in a two-hit shutout in the 4-0 win. Ramirez's dominance prevented Pikeville from generating a scoring threat as the Bears (9-16, 3-11 MSC) failed to reach second base in the game.

Pikeville starter Kayla Morgan held the Blue Raider bats at bay until the final inning. Morgan allowed all four runs -- all unearned -- on four hits in a complete game effort.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Lauren Seibert reached on a two-out, two-run error to give the Blue Raiders the chance to win in regulation. Seibert scored one batter later as junior Jamie Williams tripled to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead.

Junior Emily Priar plated Williams with a RBI single to give the Blue Raiders the 4-0 lead and eventually the win.

Ramirez ended the game striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh to secure her sixth complete game of the season.

In game two, the Blue Raiders overcame a 2-0 first inning deficit to score seven unanswered runs for the 7-2 win -- their eighth straight.

Sophomore Jordan Gilland's homer led the offensive surge with a 2-for-3 day with a home run and three RBIs. Her RBI fielder's choice in the top of the second tied the game at 2-2 and her sixth inning bomb that gave the Blue Raiders a 6-2 lead.

Williams added two hits and two RBIs and senior Ally Goniea provided three hits in the win.

Senior Morgan Paschall (12-1) picked up the win allowing two runs on four hits. She struck out 10 Bears.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Tuesday, April 5, as Lindsey Wilson travels to Shawnee State (Ohio) University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
