Softball Splits Today at Martin Methodist Meltdown

PULASKI, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a pair of games today during the second day of the Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College Meltdown.

Due to the forecasted weather in Pulaski, the tournament games were adjusted following Friday's play. The Blue Raiders -- who were scheduled to play three games on Saturday -- were reduced to two games beginning at 8 a.m. CT against Point (Ga.) University.

Lindsey Wilson (3-1) played Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University in its final game of the classic.

In today's first game, the Blue Raiders produced a pair of big innings and pitcher Cara Law hurled a complete-game, five-inning shutout en route to an 8-0 win over Point.

Lindsey Wilson's Jamie Williams hit her first home run of the season to lead the Blue Raider offense. Williams finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and a RBI.

Jane Egiazarova added two RBIs while five other Blue Raiders each drove in one run in the game.

Law allowed just three hits over her five innings of work while striking out two Point batters.

In today's final game, the Blue Raiders were shut out for the first time this season falling to Freed-Hardeman 2-0.

Lindsey Wilson managed just four hits against Lion pitcher Sarah Cousar who finished the game with a complete-game shutout. She finished the game with nine strikeouts.

Lindsey Wilson's Jordan Hood suffered her first loss of the season allowing both runs on five hits in 2-2/3 innings of work. Kristina Krupinski finished the game allowing two hits and striking eight over her 3-1/3 innings.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Feb. 21 as the Blue Raiders host Asbury (Ky.) University in their home opener at Lindsey Wilson Softball Field.
