Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. -- After scorching Union (Ky.) for a run-rule 8-0 win in six innings in game one, the No. 14 Lindsey Wilson College softball team flirted with giving up the lead late in the nightcap before finalizing the sweep with a 4-2 win at the Lindsey Wilson Sports Park.
Shortstop Jamie Williams and catcher Josie Cox highlighted the offense in the opener as Williams went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, a run and a double and Cox delivered a grand slam in the fifth inning.
Second baseman Jordan Gilland and outfielder Andrea Whelan brought out their bats in game two as they both finished 2-for-3 as Gilland hit a home run and Whelan hit an RBI double and scored herself.
Jordan Hood (4-2) earned the win in the circle in game one, pitching five innings with no runs allowed on two hits as she struck out six batters. Cara Law (5-0) pitched 3-1/3 innings to win in game two, allowing two earned runs on three hits before Lauren Seibert replaced her in the fourth inning to pick up the save.
First baseman Amy Buwalda and catcher Mikaila Etheredge also hit doubles on the day, while Williams and center fielder Amy Harner both stole a base.
After two scoreless innings, Lindsey Wilson (11-2) got on the board with three runs in the third inning of the opener.
Buwalda led off with her double hit down the third-base line, Gilland was walked and right fielder Alexis Rodgers reached safely on a bunt to load the bases.
Third baseman Emily Priar delivered the first run on a sacrifice fly to score Buwalda and Williams singled to left field next to score Gilland. The final run of the inning came on Whelan's ground out to third base which allowed Rodgers to score from third base.
Another scoreless inning passed before Cox had her big grand-slam moment in the fifth.
With Priar, Williams and Whelan all on base by a fielder's choice, single and walk, respectively, Cox stepped up and delivered the four-run shot on a 2-1 count.
The Blue Raiders recorded the winning run quickly in the bottom of the sixth as Priar led off with a single and a double by Williams in the next at-bat brought the game to an end.
Lindsey Wilson needed all three runs of its first-inning rally in game two to hold off the Bulldogs who got within a run in the fourth inning.

After a strong start by Law through a little more than three innings, Union (5-3) finally started to scatter her around the field for two runs on three hits to climb within one at 3-2.
Seibert entered the game in relief with one out on the board and after a shaky start with a wild pitch and a walk, calmed down to end the inning on a ground out and strike out.
Lindsey Wilson scored the game's final run in the bottom half of the inning as Gilland made it 4-2 on a solo home run over the left-field fence with one out.
Union threatened one more time in the sixth inning with a single and a double to start things off before Seibert once again came through with a pair of strikeouts and lineout to secure the win for the Blue Raiders.
Abby Sears picked up the loss in game one to fall to 2-2 on the season after allowing seven runs on eight hits, while Katie Perkins (2-1) was the game-two loser, allowing four runs on 10 hits.
Sears led the Bulldogs at the plate, tallying two hits with an RBI as the designated player in the nightcap.
