Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson erased a late deficit for a 4-1 win in the opener and Jamie Williams blasted a two-run home run to bring the nightcap to an early end in six innings as the Blue Raiders swept the University of Virginia's College at Wise in a Mid-South Conference doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders led just 3-0 heading into the sixth inning of the nightcap, but the crowd at Blue Raider Stadium was treated to a six-run inning that forced the game to end by run-rule with an eight run lead after five innings.

Lindsey Wilson (27-5, 6-0 MSC) got wins in the circle from Cara Law (12-1) and Jordan Hood (11-2).

Law allowed no earned runs and just one hit in the opener, pitching all seven innings with four strikeouts. Hood threw a complete six innings, allowing just three hits in the shutout with 11 strikeouts.

The Cavaliers' Kaylla Holdway (6-4) lost game one, while Chelsey Booth (4-3) was stuck with the loss in game two.

Catcher Josie Cox went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a double in game one and designated player Mikaila Etheredge tallied two hits with an RBI and a walk.

After three scoreless innings, UVa.-Wise (10-12, 0-2 MSC) took a brief 1-0 lead in the fourth as left fielder Sarah Wiltshire reached base on an error and later came all the way home to score on a Lindsey Wilson throwing error.

Lindsey Wilson made up for the mistakes in the bottom half of the inning with two runs that ultimately were enough for the win. Etheredge and right fielder Andrea Whelan both singled with one out and came around to score on Cox's double and a sacrifice fly by first baseman Amy Buwalda.

The Blue Raiders added two more runs in the next inning as third baseman Emily Priar and Etheredge both singled and scored.

It was Priar with the hot bat in the nightcap, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Center fielder Megan Huckaby was 2-for-2 with an RBI and walk and second baseman Chelsea Collins tallied two hits for two RBIs.

First baseman Brittney Novickis also finished with two hits, drove in a run and scored herself, while Williams' lone hit was her two-run laser over the left-field fence.

The Blue Raiders scored their nine runs on 12 hits, while the Cavaliers never had a chance in the game, finding just three hits and committing two errors.

The winning run in the first inning was scored in textbook fashion as right fielder Alexis Rodgers led off with a single, Huckaby moved her to second on a sacrifice bunt and Priar singled up the middle to score Rodgers.

The 1-0 lead lasted until the fourth inning when Lindsey Wilson added two more scores before the six-run explosion in the sixth.

Back-to-back doubles, followed by three singles led up to Williams' long ball that brought the game to the run-rule ending.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday in another MSC matchup against Georgetown (Ky.) at Blue Raider Stadium inside the Lindsey Wilson Sports Park.
