Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Amy Buwalda's heroics weren't enough on Thursday as Campbellsville (Ky.) swept the 14th ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team with Courtney Turpin earning two pitching wins and ending game two with a walk-off home run at Veterans Memorial Park.
Buwalda hit two home runs in game two, including one in the seventh inning that helped the Blue Raiders (32-8, 11-3 MSC) tie the score at 6-6. But it was Turpin who would have the last crack of the bat, hitting the game-winner on an 0-1 count with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Tigers (24-12, 8-1 MSC) won game one as well, 4-2, behind a complete game from Turpin who allowed two unearned runs on six hits with one strikeout.
The sophomore was forced back into the circle in game two with Lindsey Wilson down just one run in the top of the seventh.
Turpin (14-6) remained in the game to pitch the top of the eighth before finishing off her big day with the home run over the left-field fence.
Campbellsville now sits atop the Mid-South Conference standings, while Shawnee State (Ohio) is second and Lindsey Wilson is third.
Blue Raider shortstop Jamie Williams finished the day with three hits, three RBIs, a stolen base and a walk, while Buwalda finished with two hits and three RBIs playing in just game two.
Centerfielder Travatia Bowden also hit a home run in game two and first baseman Brittney Novickis went 3-for-4 and scored a run.
Campbellsville leadoff batter Emma Napier stayed hot for the Tigers through both games,finishing with four hits, two RBIs and three runs scored on a triple and double.
Cara Law (14-3) took the loss in the opener after giving up two runs in the fourth inning when the Tigers went up 2-1. Campbellsville stayed hot against reliever Jordan Hood in the fifth, adding two more runs to enter the seventh up 4-1.
Williams reached base on an error in the seventh, allowing center fielder Lauren Seibert to score from third, but the rally ended when right fielder Andrea Whelan popped out to second base.
Hood made the start for Lindsey Wilson in game two. The freshman lasted four innings before the Tigers erupted in the fifth, turning a 3-3 tie game into a 6-3 lead before one out was recorded.
Centerfielder Kacie Vincent was hit by a pitch, Napier bunted for a base hit with Vincent moving to third on a Blue Raider error. Second baseman Jordan Cornett hit a double, left fielder Kristin Benton bunted for a hit and Oakley bunted for another, all with no outs, as Kristina Krupinski (2-2) came in to pitch.
Krupinski got Lindsey Wilson out of the inning after a sacrifice bunt and double play, allowing the three-run rally in the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
Novickis led off the eighth with a single and advanced to third on a Tiger error. But with two outs, Bowden struck out swinging and three batters later Turpin delivered her game-winning homer.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at Noon CT on Saturday against Pikeville (Ky.) in a doubleheader at Blue Raider Stadium inside the Lindsey Wilson Sports Park.
