Box Score 2 ST. CATHARINE, Ky. -- For just the second time this season, the Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a Mid-South Conference doubleheader today splitting a pair with host St. Catharine College.
The Blue Raiders won the opener 7-4 thanks to a three-run home run from Travatia Bowden in the first extra inning and dropped the second game 5-4.
Lindsey Wilson moves to 39-9 overall and 16-4 in the MSC. St. Catharine is 17-27 and 5-15 in the conference following today's split.
In the opener, Bowden and Jamie Williams each produced two hits with three RBIs in the win.
Williams blasted her conference-leading 11th and 12th home runs of the season -- the latter coming in the top of the seventh inning to extend the game to the extra frame.
The top of the lineup for the Blue Raiders amassed seven of the Blue Raiders 11 hits in the game. In addition to Bowden and Williams' hits, Emily Priar and Andrea Whelan combined for three hits and two runs.
Jordan Hood picked up the win in relief throwing 4-2/3 scoreless innings. She allowed two hits while striking out six.
In game two, the Blue Raiders were unable to overcome a 5-0 deficit en route to the loss.
St. Catharine scored five runs in the first two innings off Hood as a pair of Patriots hit home runs.
Lindsey Wilson battled back with a run in the third and three in the sixth inning but could get no closer despite out-hitting the host 7-5 in the game.
Priar led the Blue Raider offense with three hits as Whelan added a solo home run.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 14 as the Blue Raiders host No. 24-ranked Campbellsville University at Lindsey Wilson Sports Park.
