Softball Splits with Georgetown, Claims MSC Regular Season Crown

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a doubleheader today with host Georgetown College and in the process wrapped up the Mid-South Conference regular season title.

The Blue Raiders (42-10, 19-5 MSC) won the opener 7-6 to clinch their third straight regular season conference title. Georgetown -- who finishes a game behind the Blue Raiders in second place -- captured the nightcap 4-3.

Lindsey Wilson won a back-and-forth affair in the opener scoring all seven of its runs in the final three innings.

Amy Buwalda led the Blue Raider offense with two hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Emily Priar added two hits in the game while Travatia Bowden drove in a pair of runs.

Jordan Hood picked up the win in relief despite allowing two runs on two hits in her 1-1/3 innings of work. Lauren Seibert retired the last two batters she faced to pick up the save.

In the finale, Georgetown built a 4-0 lead thanks to a three-run third inning on its way to the 4-3 win.

Lindsey Wilson scored three times in the sixth inning to close within a run, but that would be as close as the Blue Raiders would get in the loss.

Brittney Novickis led the Blue Raiders with two of the team's four hits.

Hood suffered the loss allowing four runs on six hits in 2-1/3 innings. Seibert threw 3-2/3 innings of scoreless, three-hit ball in relief.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday, April 26, in the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Danville, Ky. The Blue Raiders -- the tournament's top-seed -- meets the winner of the play-in game featuring the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds.
