No. 15 Softball Shuts Out Asbury for Two Wins on Monday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Asbury (Ky.) failed to score a run against Lindsey Wilson's pitching as the Blue Raider softball team poured it on the Eagles for a 5-0 win in game one and 9-0 run-rule win in five innings in the nightcap on Monday at Lindsey Wilson Park.

Lauren Seibert registered the win from the circle in the opener, pitching a complete game while allowing just one hit and striking out a season-high 10 batters. Cheyenne Knepper went three innings to earn the win in game two with four stikeouts as she combined with reliever Jordan Hood for a no hitter.

Hood threw the final two innings of the night, striking out four batters as well with one walk.

Center fielder Allison Hart finished with a combined three hits, including two RBIs, three runs scored, a season-high two stolen bases and a double. First baseman and designated player Kristina Krupinski kept up her hot-hitting season (.667) with a home run, RBI, triple and stolen base on four hits.

In game one it was the top of the order doing most of the offensive damage as right fielder Alexis Rodgers joined Hart and Krupinski with two hits, including a stolen base and two runs scored. The Blue Raiders (5-0) spread out their scoring, tallying a run in the first inning on Krupinski's triple, followed by two runs each in the third and fifth innings.

There was no such spreading it out in game two as all nine of Lindsey Wilson's runs were scored in the second inning as the Blue Raiders sent 12 batters to the plate in the frame. The rally started off with a bang as Krupinski and shortstop Madison Scott hit back-to-back home runs.

By the end of the inning, Lindsey Wilson had nine runs on 10 hits. The Blue Raiders tied a season high with 12 hits in the game.

Outfielder Antionette Jenkins and third baseman Lauren Payne finished with two hits each in the run-rule win, while Payne added a triple, double and RBI and Jenkins finished with an RBI, double and stolen base.

Marris Herald was stuck with the loss in game one for Asbury (0-2) in a complete-game effort and Summer Rattliff took the loss in game two after allowing nine runs on 10 hits in just two innings of work.

Left fielder Anna Beth Hill picked up the Eagles' lone hit of the doubleheader in game one.

Lindsey Wilson is back on the road Friday, playing in the Alabama Arctic Blast in Decatur, Ala. The Blue Raiders open up at 4 p.m. CT against Tennessee Wesleyan, followed immediately by a matchup against Bethel (Tenn.).
