Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Ky. – There's no question, this Lindsey Wilson softball team knows how to score runs.

The 15th-ranked Blue Raiders won two run-rule shortened games against Union (Ky.) on Tuesday, taking game one of the doubleheader 17-2, followed by a 15-1 win in the nightcap. The combined score of 32-3 improves Lindsey Wilson's overall record to 9-0 on the season.

The Bulldogs (4-4) had just five hits combined, while the Blue Raiders rallied for 22. Lindsey Wilson scored the 17 runs in game one on just eight hits as third baseman Lauren Payne got things going in the right direction with a three-run home run during a five-run first inning.

Jordan Hood (2-0) picked up the win in the circle in the opener, allowing two runs on two hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts in three innings. Lauren Seibert (3-0) was the winning pitcher in game two, throwing all five innings with three hits allowed and giving up her first run of the season. Seibert also had three strikeouts and two walks.

Four home runs left the park on Tuesday, all off of a Blue Raider bat. Payne finished with one, while Hood, outfielder Travatia Bowden and catcher Jane Egizarova all went yard as well.

Payne had a monster day at the plate, going a combined 4 for 5 with six RBIs. Left fielder Antoinette Jenkings had a pair of hits in game one, scoring three runs and stealing a base. Right fielder Andrea Whelan went a perfect 3 for 3 in game two, adding a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Game two was all about the extra-base hits as second baseman Chelsea Collins ripped a triple and shortstop Madison Scott tallied a double.

The opener got away from Union early as Lindsey Wilson went up 5-0 early on Payne's homer. After adding three more runs in the next two innings, the Blue Raiders exploded to put the game away in the fourth with nine runs. There were only two hits in the big inning as Union walked in four runs, hit a batter to allow another run and allowed one more on a wild pitch.

It was the same issue in the nightcap as Lindsey Wilson responded from going down 1-0 in the top of the first on a single by Autumn Greenwell with six runs in the bottom half. There were five hits in the inning for Lindsey Wilson, including a three-run shot by Egiazarova.

The Blue Raiders went on to score nine more runs in the next three innings, while Seibert shut down the Bulldogs the rest of the way.

Lindsey Wilson is scheduled to be back in action at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday, travelling to Mayfield, Ky., to face Mid-Continent.
