Campbellsville 7, No. 13 Lindsey Wilson 5 (8 Innings)
There were heroics from Kristina Krupinski, including a game-tying home run in the seventh inning, but errors ultimately doomed the Blue Raiders as three in the decisive eighth inning allowed two runs to come home as Campbellsville took game one 7-5.
Krupinski finished with two homers in the game, the first coming in the opening inning to cut the Tiger lead to 2-1 and the second coming in the seventh to tie the game at 5-5.
The comeback was short lived as third baseman Brooke Boils singled to score Zatoria Leavell and later came around to score herself on a wild throw by catcher Jane Egiazarova. With Kelsi Pardue coming in for the save, Lindsey Wilson struck out three straight times to end the game.
Second baseman Jordan Gilland also homered for the Blue Raiders in the fourth inning, cutting into a 5-1 Tiger lead built with a run in the third and two more in the fourth. Gilland finished with three hits in the game, doubling in her previous at-bat.
Krupinski was 2 for 2 at the plate with her home runs, but also reached base twice on an intentional walk and being hit by a pitch. Travatia Bowden, despite going hitless in four at-bats, drove in the Blue Raiders' other run on a groundout.
Emma Napier finished with two hits and a home run for Campbellsville, while catcher Taylor Borders also had two hits and drove in pair of runs.
Jordan Hood took the tough loss, falling to 7-1 after allowing two unearned runs in four innings of relief for starter Cheyanna Knepper. Knepper scattered six hits for five runs in her four innings in the circle.
Reliever Martina Riney (1-0) took the win after allowing a run on three hits in three innings of work.
No. 13 Lindsey Wilson 9, Campbellsville 7
The Blue Raiders and Tigers wasted little time putting runs on the board once again in game two as it was a 2-1 Lindsey Wilson lead after two innings.
Lindsey Wilson loaded the bases in the first inning with no outs, but was limited to just one run, and the Tigers got the equalizer in the second on a home run by catcher Sara Paragon.
The non-stop early scoring continued in the bottom of the second with Bowden putting the Blue Raiders up 2-1 on a home run.
Campbellsville went back on top 3-2 in the third, getting runners on second and third with two outs before outfielder Kristin Benton drove them both home with a single to right field.
To tie the game back up in the bottom half of the inning, Lindsey Wilson used a pair of Tiger mistakes to advance on the bases. Shortstop Madison Scott led off with a single and Ashley Hughes pinch ran. Hughes advanced to second on a wild pitch and later came home on a bobbled ball in the outfield.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Scott put the Blue Raiders on top 4-3 in the fifth after roping a double and later scoring on another double by Hood.
Lindsey Wilson increased its lead to 9-3 in the sixth with five runs on five hits, including a three-run homer by Hood. The runs were important as Campbellsville got hot in the seventh for four runs on three hits, but ultimately Borders grounded out with a runner on first to end the game.
Cara Law (4-2) picked up the win in the circle, allowing three runs on three hits with five walks in 5-1/3 innings. Hood earned her third save despite allowing four runs on three hits in 1-2/3 innings.
Kelsi Pardue (9-5) took the loss after scattering nine hits for four runs with nine strikeouts over five innings.
