Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team stayed perfect on the season, shutting out Midway (Ky.) in a Monday doubleheader 8-0 in five innings and 6-0 at Lindsey Wilson Park.
Jane Egiazarova, Ali Hart, Kristina Krupinski and Andrea Whelan gave Lindsey Wilson a season-high four home runs in the opener to lead an offense that is outscoring opponents 105-14 this season.
Starting pitcher Cheyanne Knepper (3-0) earned the win in game one, throwing a no-hitter through four innings with four strikeouts and Cara Law (2-0) won the nightcap, allowing one hit and striking out six in four innings.
Egiazarova finished with a combined three hits, adding a pair of RBIs and a double, while Whelan tallied five RBIs and a double on just two hits. One of Whelan's at-bats was a sacrifice fly.
Shortstop Madison Scott impressed in the opener, going 3 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and a double. Krupinski added a stolen base to her game-one home run and RBI. Third baseman Abbi Goedde matched a season-high with two doubles in the finale.
Lindsey Wilson (11-0) is batting .397 as a team, while its pitchers are limiting opponents to just a .128 average. The Blue Raiders have hit 14 home runs and are benefitting from a pitching staff with a 1.42 ERA.
It was a slow build up of runs for the Blue Raiders in the opener, scoring one in the first, second and third innings. Then Lindsey Wilson blew the game open in the fourth frame with a five spot.
Egiazarova started the rally with a solo home run, Whelan hit a two-run shot two batters later and Krupinski capped it off with another solo shot to make the lead 8-0, allowing for a run-rule shortened five-inning game.
Game two saw two scoreless innings go by before the Blue Raiders added three runs in both the third and fourth innings. It didn't hurt in the bottom of the third as Egiazarova hit a leadoff double, followed by another double from Goedde to score the game's first run.
Whelan hit a sacrifice fly and Hart blasted a single up the middle of the infield to add two more runs and put Lindsey Wilson in front for good with Law shutting Midway (0-6) down through four innings.
Lauren Seibert finished the game off in the circle, allowing a hit with two strikeouts in three innings.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday with the Mid-South Conference opener against St. Catharine (Ky.) at Lindsey Wilson Park.
