Box Score 2 WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- Big scoring innings was the theme today for the No. 19-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team in a sweep of host Cumberlands (Ky.).
The No. 16-ranked Blue Raiders (37-5, 21-3 in the Mid-South Conference) used a 10-run and a five-run inning en route to a 16-1 win in six innings in the today's opener. Lindsey Wilson posted multiple run innings -- three runs and two runs -- in the nightcap to win 6-2.
Kristina Krupinski homered and drove in five runs to lead the Blue Raider offense in the first game. Krupinski was one of five Blue Raiders to produce two hits in the game as Lindsey Wilson out-hit the Patriots (10-30, 4-21) 14-2.
Antoinette Jenkins, Ali Hart, Jane Egiazarova and Lauren Payne joined the Krupinski with multiple hits in the win.
The Blue Raiders used a five-run third inning -- thanks to a Krupinski grand slam -- and added a run in the fifth for a 6-0 lead.
Cumberlands scored its lone run in the bottom of the fifth in front of the Blue Raiders' 10-run sixth inning to ice the game.
Jordan Hood earned the win allowing just one hit in four innings. She struck out seven Patriots. Cara Law closed the game allowing an unearned run while surrendering just one hit in her two innings.
In game two, Andrea Whelan went 3-for-4 with a RBI and Lauren Payne was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in the 6-2 win. Jenkins, Egiazarova and Madison Scott added two hits each as the Blue Raiders collected 13 hits compared to Cumberlands' four.
Hood (15-2) picked up the win while allowing two runs on three hits in 3-1/3 innings. Cheyanne Knepper pitched the final 3-2/3 innings without allowing a run and just one hit.
With today's wins, Lindsey Wilson moves into first place in the Mid-South with second place Campbellsville (Ky.) up next on Thursday. The Blue Raiders travel to the No. 23-ranked Tigers on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled 1 p.m. CT.
