Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Andrea Whelan hit a pair of home runs and went 4-for-4 in game two as the 16th-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team split a doubleheader at No. 23 Campbellsville (Ky.) with a 5-1 loss and 7-5 win on Thursday at Veteran's Memorial Park.
The Blue Raiders struggled at the plate in the opener with Whelan's solo home run scoring their only run of the game. The Tigers weren't much better except for one inning when they pushed all five of their runs across the plate to provide the winning cushion.
Whelan was one of five Blue Raiders to go 1-for-3 at the plate in the loss, while Campbellsville first baseman Heather Oakley drove in a pair of runs with a home run and designated player Sara Paragon had two RBIs after a 3-for-3 showing.
The nightcap was more of a slugfest as Lindsey Wilson outhit the Tigers 12-9 in a game that saw only two innings go by without a run scored. Down 4-2, the Blue Raiders scored five of the final six runs to come back for the important Mid-South Conference win.
With her four hits, Whelan finished with a home run, two RBIs, two runs scored and a double. Center fielder Ali Hart drove in a late run with a triple and catcher Jane Egiazarova and first baseman Kristina Krupinski both added home runs.
Lindsey Wilson (38-6, 21-3 MSC) is in control of first place in the MSC standings with the split. Campbellsville (32-13, 19-4 MSC) is second, but both teams have four conference games left to play.

Two scoreless innings went by before Campbellsville decided to bat through the lineup in the third inning, scoring five runs on three hits that were too much to overcome.
Krupinski, pitching for the first time since March 20, lasted 2-2/3 innings as the starter before allowing two runs on five hits with a strikeout. Jordan Hood threw the final 3-1/3, allowing the other two runs in the third, but allowed just one hit the rest of the way with five stikeouts.
Victoria Decker (15-3) won for Campbellsville, allowing the single run on five hits with two strikeouts in seven innings. Krupinski dropped to 3-2 with the loss.
The third inning started bad for Krupinski as Napier was hit by a pitch, then outfielder Kristin Benton ripped a double to center to score her. One batter later, Oakley hit her home run to put the Tigers up 3-0, and following another hit batter, Hood took over in the circle.
Hood walked her first batter to put runners on first and second as designated player Sara Paragon scored them both with a double to right-center field.
Whelan put the Blue Raiders on the board as the leadoff hitter in the fourth, putting the ball over the left-field fence on a 2-2 count. There wouldn't be a rally, however, as the frame ended with two groundouts and a fly out.
Lindsey Wilson put a runner on third base in the next two innings, but both were stranded to make the big third inning enough for Campbellsville to win.

Campbellsville struck first again in game two, scoring two runs in the second inning, but Lindsey Wilson was quick to answer with two itself in the third.
Outfielder Antoinette Jenkins lifted a single to left field and scored, along with Whelan, on her second homer to left field. The Tigers kept the two-run trend alive in the bottom half of the inning, going back on top 4-2 with a pair of runs after Blue Raider errors.
Not looking to come undone by fielding errors, Hart drove home Whelan with a triple and shortstop Madison Scott hit an RBI single to tie the score at 4-4 in the fifth inning.
One frame later, Egiazarova gave Lindsey Wilson its first lead of the day with a leadoff home run to center.
Down 5-4, Campbellsville loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth with no outs and looked prime for a comeback. After getting the dangerous Emma Napier to pop out to second, Hood came back in for Lindsey Wilson to finish off the inning in place of reliever Cheyanne Knepper.
Hood did her job, getting her first batter to strike out and second to pop out.
Looking to add to the one-run lead, Krupinski started the seventh inning with a bang, belting her 19th home run of the season to right field to make the score 6-4.
Travatia Bowden doubled two batters later and scored after a Tiger error to put the Blue Raiders up by three.
Oakley hit her second homer of the game in the bottom half of the inning, but Hood didn't allow anything else to preserve the win.
Cara Law started for the Blue Raiders, allowing four runs on seven hits in three innings, but suffered from two infield errors in the third inning. Knepper (10-0) took the win, allowing just one hit in 2-1/3 innings and Hood earned her fourth save of the season.
Up next for Lindsey Wilson is a 1 p.m. CT doubleheader against Montreat (N.C.) on Friday at Lindsey Wilson Park.
