Box Score KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson scored five times in the opening inning today en route to a 10-2, five-inning win over eighth-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) Domtar Park.
The Blue Raiders (44-7) advance in the winner's bracket to face fifth-seeded UVa.-Wise -- who beat Shawnee State (Ohio) 9-0 in another opening round game this morning -- at 3 p.m. CT.
The first five Lindsey Wilson batters reached led by Kristina Krupinski and Ali Hart who each drove in two runs in the inning to give the Blue Raiders a 5-0 lead after the first inning.
Pikeville (20-26) responded with a pair of runs in the top of the third to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Sarah Belcher and Holly Hinkle each drove in a run against Blue Raider starter Cara Law.
The Bears threatened to add more runs, but Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Year Jordan Hood struck out back-to-back batters with bases loaded in relief of Law.
Law ended the game allowing two runs on two hits in 2-1/3 innings. Hood allowed just one hit in 2-2/3 scoreless innings.
The Blue Raiders got the two runs back in bottom half of the third as Travatia Bowden hit a two-run double off the left field fence to give Lindsey Wilson a 7-2 lead. Bowden ended 2-for-3 at the plate with team-high three RBIs.
Lindsey Wilson added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to end the game in a run-ruled, 10-2 win.
Hart and Krupinski joined Bowden with two hits as the Blue Raiders out-hit the Bears 10-3.
