Softball takes pair at Martin Methodist Meltdown, beats Grace and Benedictine-Springfield

PULASKI, Tenn. -- For a second straight day, the No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team posted double-digit runs while winning a pair of games.

The Blue Raiders improved to 4-0 on the season with a 10-3 win over Grace (Ind.) and a 12-1 win over Benedictine-Springfield (Ill.) on the second day of the Martin Methodist (Tenn.) Meltdown.

On Friday, Lindsey Wilson scored 24 runs in a pair of wins. Through the four games this season, the Blue Raider offense has outscored the opposition 46-10.

Today, Ashley Evans and Amanda Trampe had three hits each and combined for five RBIs in a 10-3 win over Grace. Abbi Goedde, Andrea Whelan and Savannah Madison chipped in two hits each as the Blue Raiders outhit Grace 15-5 for the game.

Trampe not only provided an offensive punch, she picked up her first win of the season in the circle allowing three runs on five hits in four innings of work. Jasmine Matchen picked up a three-inning save without allowing a hit.

In the nightcap, Trampe hit her second home run of the weekend and drove in three runs in a 12-1, five-inning win over Benedictine-Springfield.

Whelan and Bailey Mize each ended the game 2-for-2 at the plate. Whelan finished with two RBIs while Mize scored three times and drove in a run. Travatia Bowden also had a pair of hits while scoring twice.

Casey Bryan did double duty in the second game. She was 1-for-2 with two RBIs at the plate while hurling four scoreless innings en route to the win. Savannah Womack pitched the final inning allowing a run on one hit.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 20 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Alabama Arctic Blast in Decatur, Ala. On the first of the three-day event, Lindsey Wilson faces Tennessee Wesleyan at 5 p.m. CT and No. 9-ranked Belhaven (Miss.) at 7 p.m. CT.
