Softball powers past Point and Martin Methodist on Friday

DECATUR, Ala. -- No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball picked up two wins on Friday on the second day of the Arctic Blast.

The Blue Raiders (7-1) defeated Point (Ga.) 4-3 in today's first game and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 7-3 in the finale.

Abbi Goedde hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Blue Raiders their first lead in the game en route to a 4-3 win over Point. Goedde ended the game 1-for-3 with the homer and two RBIs.

Amanda Trampe led the Blue Raider hitting attack with two of the team's eight hits. Trampe and Kristina Krupinski each finished with a RBI in the win.

Jordan Hood (2-1) earned the win going 6-2/3 innings while allowing three runs and nine hits. She struck out eight without issuing a walk. Jasmine Matchen earned her third save of the season getting the final out of game with two runners on.

In the Blue Raiders' 7-3 win over Martin Methodist, Bailey Mize provided the big hit with a grand slam in a four-run fifth inning.

Trampe added a pair of home runs as she finished 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs in the win.

Casey Bryan pitched a complete-game for her fourth win of the season. Bryan (4-0) allowed three runs on six hits while striking out seven.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday for three games. Lindsey Wilson faces William Woods (Mo.) at 10 a.m. CT, No. 5-ranked Reinhardt (Ga.) at Noon and No. 14-ranked Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at 3 p.m. CT in the final day of the event.
