Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team split a doubleheader with No. 23 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Blue Raiders (25-3, 11-1 MSC) took game one 4-2, but fell to the Tigers (24-8, 11-3 MSC) by a score of 9-1 in game two.
It was a slow start to game one as neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the first two innings. The Blue Raiders broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third after Travatia Bowden led off with a double and was chased home on a single by Savannah Madison.
A Campbellsville error extended the inning and a walk by Kristina Krupinski loaded the bases for Amanda Trampe. Trampe hit a single to shallow centerfield to score a run and give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 lead.
Campbellsville finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Tigers had runners on second and third with two outs when Heather Oakley singled to center to score two runs and tie the game.
Later in the inning, a fielding error by the Blue Raiders almost proved costly. A short shallow ball to right field was dropped as Oakley headed home with two outs, but Ashley Evans delivered a perfect ball and Madison covered the plate and tagged out Oakley to preserve the 2-2 tie.
In the top of the sixth, Trampe reached on an error and later advanced to second on a ground out. Abbi Goedde stepped to the plate and delivered a single to score Trampe for the go-ahead run.
The Tigers threatened again in the bottom of the sixth after putting runners on first and second with no outs. Lindsey Wilson was able to get a pop out, a sacrifice bunt and a strikeout to end the inning.
Madison Scott added a little insurance in the top of the seventh when she hit a solo shot over the left field fence to put the Blue Raiders up 4-2.
The Tigers were unable to get anything going in the bottom half of the inning, giving Lindsey Wilson game one 4-2.
Bowden and Madison finished with two hits and each scored once in game one. Scott, Trampe and Goedde all recorded an RBI.
