COLUMBIA, Ky. – Trailing 2-0 in the top of the seventh of game one, Kristina Krupinski hit a grand slam to lift No. 8 Lindsey Wilson softball to a 4-2 victory over Georgetown (Ky.) Thursday at Tiger Stadium. The Blue Raiders added a 4-1 win in game two of the doubleheader to complete the season sweep of the Tigers.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 35-5 on the year and 21-3 in Mid-South Conference play with the wins.

Game one was scoreless until Georgetown (23-11, 18-8 MSC) broke the tie in the bottom of the third on a solo home run by Cassidy Taylor.

The Tigers added another run in the bottom of the sixth after a Blue Raider error, followed by a single scored one run. Georgetown had a chance to increase their lead after a pair of singles loaded the bases with one out, but Lindsey Wilson starting pitcher Casey Bryan recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat.

The Blue Raiders had just six hits all game entering the seventh and final inning.

After a pop out, Jordan Hood, Andrea Whelan and Madison Scott recorded three-straight singles to load the bases. Krupinski stepped to the plate and hit a grand slam for her ninth home run of the season to give the Blue Raiders their first lead of the day at 4-2.

Bryan took care of business in the bottom half of the seventh with a strike out, pop out, and following an error, a fly out to end the game and preserve the 4-2 win.

In game one, Krupinski went 2-for-4 with her four RBIs while Whelan put together a 3-for-4 day. Bailey Mize and Savannah Madison added two hits each in the game.

Bryan (17-2) pitched a gem in the circle as she earned the win throwing her 13th complete game this season. The freshman allowed two runs – one earned – on six hits with a career-high 11 strikeouts without issuing a walk.

Kayla Williams (9-5) took the loss for Georgetown giving up all four runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts.

Game two began as a pitcher's duel as neither team was able to score in the first three innings.

The Blue Raiders went just 1-for-10 to begin the game at the plate, but where Lindsey Wilson struggled on offense, Hood was dominating in the circle. The junior from Locust Fork, Ala., gave up a single to start the game and followed by retiring the next eight batters, including five strikeouts.

Lindsey Wilson was able to break the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth. After Krupinski reached on a walk, Amanda Trampe smashed her 12th home run of the season to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead.

Madison Scott singled to start the sixth inning and scored when Krupinski hit her 10th home run of the season to add a pair of insurance runs and give Lindsey Wilson the 4-0 lead.

Georgetown finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh after a solo home run, but it was too little too late as Hood continued to deal and struck out the final three batters to end the game.

Krupinski and Trampe finished with two RBIs while Scott and Travatia Bowden each recorded a hit.

In four games this season against Georgetown, Krupinski is 7-for-10 with five home runs and 12 RBIs. She is now tied for the most career home runs in program history with 35.

Hood (14-2) picked up the win in the circle throwing her ninth complete game this season allowing just one run on four hits while striking out a career-high 13.

Jessica Claxton (11-4) took the loss for Georgetown allowing all four runs on four hits in five and one-third innings.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday, April 19 when they travel to the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. CT.
