Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Bailey Mize hit a three-run home run to help No. 8 Lindsey Wilson softball earn an 8-4 game two victory on Friday and split the Mid-South Conference series with Rio Grande (Ohio). The RedStorm (28-17, 20-14 MSC) won the first game 7-4.

Neither team could get on the scoreboard early in game one, but Rio Grande's Kim Rollins hit a 3-1 pitch over center field to give the RedStorm an early 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth. The Blue Raiders (41-7, 27-5 MSC) loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning, but could only plate one run.

Multiple errors and another two-run shot by Collins allowed Rio Grande to score four runs in the fifth. Travatia Bowden led off the bottom of the sixth with a double and advanced to third on a wild throw. Coming in to pinch hit for Ashley Evans, Brittney Graves singled to shallow left field to bring in Bowden. After an Andrea Whelan double to left, Madison Scott singled to right and Kristina Krupinski grounded out to first to plate two runs, trimming the RedStorm lead to 6-4. Rio Grande added an insurance run in the top of the seventh and shut down the Blue Raiders 1-2-3 to end the game.

Casey Bryan took the loss, falling to 19-4 on the season. The freshman allowed four hits and six runs, two of them earned, while striking out eight in five innings of work. Jenna Jones improved to 17-11 with the complete game effort. Jones allowed eight hits and four earned runs, walking two and striking out five.

In the second game, it was Lindsey Wilson's turn to take the early run. Whelan reached on an error and Krupinski brought her in with a home run just inside of the right field foul pole, giving the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead through three innings. Mize's three-run blast in the bottom of the fifth made it 5-0.

Two-run home runs by Shanea Long and Collins in the top of the sixth inning made things interesting. After seeing their five-run lead shrink to a run, the Blue Raiders responded with three more runs in the bottom of the inning. Evans would score on a wild pitch and Amanda Trampe sent an 0-1 pitch over the left-field fence for two more runs. The Blue Raiders shut down the RedStorm in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Jordan Hood earned the complete game victory to improve to 18-2. The junior allowed three hits and a walk while striking out 10. Katie Noll took the loss after throwing 4.1 innings. Noll falls to 0-2 and allowed five hits and four earned runs with three walks.

Lindsey Wilson hosts Shawnee State (Ohio) Saturday at 1 p.m. CT for the final MSC doubleheader of the regular season. Live stats and video will be available.
