Box Score

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson struggled in its Mid-South Conference opener today, falling twice to No. 24-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Tigers (11-4, 2-0 in the MSC) held on for a 5-4 win in today's opener and capped the day with a 1-0 win. The Blue Raiders slip to 16-5 overall and 0-2 in the Mid-South with today's losses.

Abbi Goedde homered twice, but it was not enough in the 5-4 loss.

Amanda Trampe's RBI ground out in the first inning gave the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead.

The Tigers responded with four runs over the next two innings to seize a 4-1 lead. Haley Szpila hit a two-run shot in the first and Erin Benton and Markie Smith each hit solo home runs in the second inning for the three-run lead.

Goedde cut the deficit to 4-2 with a solo homer in the fifth, but Campbellsville added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning for a 5-2 lead.

Goedde blasted a two-run home run -- her third of the season -- in the top of the seventh to help the Blue Raiders climb within 5-4.

Campbellsville's Victoria Decker settled down and recorded the final three outs to secure the complete-game win. Decker allowed four runs on four hits while striking out four Blue Raiders.

Lyndsey Parden (5-2) suffered the loss allowing all five runs on six hits. Parden lasted 4-1/3 innings before giving way to Jordan Hood -- who pitched 1-2/3 scoreless innings.

Campbellsville's Neely Quint hurled a complete-game shutout in game two as the Blue Raiders failed to score in a game for the first time this season in the 1-0 loss.

Benton's RBI sacrifice bunt scored Szpila -- who led off the inning with a double -- for the 1-0 lead.

Quint did the rest as she scattered five Lindsey Wilson hits while stranding eight Blue Raiders in the win.

Casey Bryan (6-2) proved to be a hard-luck loser allowing just the one run on two hits. She struck out nine Tigers without issuing a walk in a complete-game effort.

Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville complete their four-game series on Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park. First pitch is set for Noon CT.
