Box Score 2 GULF SHORES, Ala. – Travatia Bowden's walk-off RBI single gave the fourth-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team a 5-4 victory over Thomas (Ga.) Saturday at the Gulf Coast Invitational.
The Blue Raiders' (11-2) Chelsea Showers scored the game-winning run and went 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the win.
Thomas (18-6) got on the board first taking a 3-0 lead through two and a half innings. The Nighthawks scored once in the first and added two more in the top half of the third inning.
Lindsey Wilson struck back scoring two runs in the bottom of the third when Amanda Trampe singled in both Jenna Firestein and Showers.
Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Blue Raiders scored two more runs to tie the game. With the bases loaded, Andrea Whelan hit a ground ball to Thomas's Lindsey Young who misplayed it, allowing Sydney Fourman and Abbi Goede to cross the plate on the error.
Both teams went scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings as Jordan Hood retired six-straight Nighthawks before Bowden's game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.
Trampe went 1-for-4 with two RBI's and Hood (3-0) pitched a complete game giving up two earned runs and striking out eight.
Earlier in the day, Lindsey Wilson defeated Benedictine-Springfeld (Ill.) 9-0 in a five-inning game.
The Blue Raider offense was firing on all cylinders as Whelan and Trampe both recorded two RBIs while Bailey Mize, Fourman, Ericka Clifford and Cassie Kooker each tallied an RBI in the win.
Casey Bryan (3-1) pitched the complete-game shutout allowing just four hits on the day.
The Blue Raiders return to action Sunday when they begin bracket play of the invitational against top-ranked Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) at 11 a.m. CT.
