BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The second-seeded Lindsey Wilson softball team shut out seventh-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.), 8-0, to begin the Mid-South Conference Championship Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Michael O. Buchanon Park.

With their five-inning victory over the Patriots (19-22), the Blue Raiders (42-6) have now claimed 26-straight wins.

Lindsey Wilson scored twice in the first, twice in the second and four times in the fourth to account for all of the game's offense. Sydney Fourman went 2-for-2 with a triple and a solo home run, while Chelsea Showers had two walks and a three-run homer on a full-count pitch in the fourth.

Jordan Hood (13-2) earned the victory for the Blue Raiders in the pitcher's circle. She threw all five innings and allowed only three hits, including a bunt single. Hood hit a batter, walked one and struck out nine hitters – eight of them swinging.

Mindy Jo Britt (1-3) took the loss for Cumberlands. She went 3-1/3 innings and gave up all eight runs – six earned. Britt walked three and struck out one.

The Blue Raiders play the winner of this afternoon's Georgetown (Ky.) and Cumberland (Tenn.) later in the evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at the Orange Field.
