SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Lindsey Wilson softball team closed out the opening day of the 2015 NAIA Softball World Series, presented by Security National Bank & Morningside College, in walk-off fashion with a 2-1 win over Mobile (Ala.) at the Elizabeth & Irving Jensen Softball Complex on Thursday night.

Amanda Trampe hammered a two-out, solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to left field to send the Blue Raiders (49-6) past the Rams (37-13) by a 2-1 score.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson will play next on Monday night at 7 p.m. CT against the winner of No. 2 Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) and No. 7 Oregon Tech.

The Blue Raiders, who did not lead on the night until Trampe's game-winning blast, fell behind early in the top of the first.

Mobile used back-to-back slap-hit infield singles to put their first two base runners on to open the game. After a strikeout, the runners moved up a base on a groundout before a wild pitch in the dirt allowed one run to score for the 1-0 lead.

The Blue Raider offense pieced together hits over the next three innings, but were unable to put anything together back-to-back, leaving four runners left on in the first three frames.

The breakthrough finally came in the bottom of the fourth.

Abbi Goedde hit a one-out double to left field and was lifted for pinch runner Ericka Clifford. Sydney Fourman then delivered a two-out double that landed just inside the third base line as Clifford scored on the play to tie the game 1-1.

From that point on, it was a pitcher's duel between Lindsey Wilson's Jordan Hood and Mobile's Makayla Scott.

Over the next three innings, Scott allowed just three hits, but Hood did not allow a single hit as the game went into extras.

After a leadoff single in the top of the eighth by the Rams, a sac bunt and fly out moved the runner to third before a groundout to third base ended the threat.

In the bottom of the eighth, two quick groundouts brought Trampe to the plate where she delivered the winning hit for the Blue Raiders on a 1-0 count.

Hood improved to 17-2 on the year with the win allowing just the one earned run on seven hits and four strikeouts. All seven hits she allowed were singles and with her four strikeouts has now struck out 200 batters on the year.

Scott falls to 12-4 as she allowed both earned runs on eight hits. She allowed four extra-base hits on the night including three doubles and the home run.

Both teams played well defensively as not a single error was committed by either squad.

The loss drops Mobile into the consolation bracket where they face No. 10 seed Dickinson State (N.D.) at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.

The Blue Raiders will find out their opponent on Monday night on Saturday as No. 2 seed AUM and No. 7 seed Oregon Tech play at 4 p.m. CT.
